Phoneography, Part 5: Hiking Along The Kern River

Part 1

Part 3
Part 4

On March 10th I went on a hike along the Kern River near Johnsondale, California.

Hiking and photography don't always mix. Lugging around equipment is no fun, and if those you are hiking with are not photographers, they get annoyed if you're holding everyone up.

The solution? Your cell phone camera! It's light, compact, and discrete.

All of these photographs were taken with my Samsung Galaxy S cell phone that has a tiny 5 megapixel sensor. There's enough resolution in each image for 8" x 10" (or 8" x 12") prints, and a few could be made larger than that. Since most photographs are not made larger than 8" x 10" (if they're printed at all), the cell phone has plenty of resolution.

The hike was about three hours round-trip, and all of these images were taken along the way.
