Disneyland, Part 1

I took my family to the happiest place on Earth: Disneyland. We purchased "hopper passes" so we could visit both parks.

Even though I've been to Disneyland many times (mostly as a child), I was surprised at just how photogenic the park is. I could see buying tickets and going with a camera in hand, with no intentions of partaking in any rides.

This trip was for my kids, so most of my photographs are of them.

Another surprise is how well Disney is at creating a feeling. They're really good at making you believe you are really in New Orleans, or at a beach pier, or in the California mountains, etc. They give you just enough sights, sounds and smells of a "generalized specific" location to fool your mind. There is a lesson in that for photographers.

All of these photographs were captured with a Samsung NX200.

Day 1: Thursday, March 22

We arrived late and after sundown. We were able to spend a few hours in the park, but it wasn't very good for photography.
Main Street - Disneyland, California
Shutter 1/5 (handheld), f7.1, ISO 1600, 18mm (27mm equivalent)
Northern Lights - Disneyland, California
This was an accidental four second exposure while on Autopia. Mistakes aren't always bad.
Red Fireworks - Disneyland, California
Shutter 1/40, f6.3, ISO 1600, 33mm (50mm equivalent)

Day 2: Friday, March 23

This was the first full day at the park. We took our time (maybe too much), relaxed, and enjoyed the location. It was overcast and cool to begin with, but that soon gave way to sunshine and warmth.

The park was fairly empty when we started out, but by afternoon it was packed with people. We spent most of the day in California Adventure.

Red Window - California Adventure, California
This image works because of the color contrast between the red and green. Otherwise, it's not a good photograph.

This guy was probably just using the helpful Disneyland App on his smart phone, but it appears as if he's so consumed in his device he's missing what is around him.
