Thought Of The Day: Why You Don't Need To Bring Your Camera

For "every day" pictures, you don't need a DSLR, compact interchangeable-lens, or even a pocket point-and-shoot. The only camera you need for normal pictures is the one in your pocket or purse that you have with you all of the time: your cell phone!

Cell phone cameras are perfectly capable of producing good quality images perfect for Facebook, e-mails or even 8" x 10" prints. The image above was captured and post-processed on my cell phone.

Now if you plan on making big enlargements, or selling your images, then your cell phone might not be the best choice. But for most of the pictures that most people take, a cell phone is the tool of choice.

My opinion is that you should always have a camera with you, but what camera you bring along isn't important. What's important is that you have a camera--any camera--and your cell phone will do just fine in most cases.

Vision is what matters, not equipment.
