Trip: Pismo Beach and Avila Beach, California

This last weekend I took a day trip to Pismo Beach and the nearby Avila Beach on the central California coast. It was a beautiful day, if not just slightly cold.

Pismo Beach is really neat because you can park right on the sand near the ocean. Literally, the car was parked 25 steps from the water. There are also some interesting cliffs and rocks that are great for photography. However, the disadvantage is that it is a busy beach with too many people.

Avila Beach is just a little north of Pismo Beach, and it is a tucked-away quaint cove. That is not to say that it isn't busy, because it is, but that it isn't quite as popular as the other beach. There are plenty of photographic opportunities at Avila Beach, but perhaps not as many as at Pismo Beach.

I brought along my Samsung NX200 digital camera. This camera was stolen last year, but I was able to get it back recently. This was the first opportunity to use the camera since last August.

I put all of the photographs of this trip on my Flickr site, so go there to see the entire collection. Some of my favorites are below, in no particular order.
