Abandonment: Another Desert Home - Mojave, California

An Abandoned Desert Home - Mojave, California
I found another abandoned house in the desert near Mojave, California. There are a bunch of abandoned homes in this area. I have to think that the reason they're all abandoned is related, and most likely related to the many closed mines nearby.

This particular home is small (most of these are). I didn't find signs of a kitchen, although there was a bathroom. Some of these old places didn't have any indoor plumbing, but his one had some. There was a large front porch that was almost as large as the house.

Out back was a shed that was almost as large as the home. It is possible that the shed may have also been lived in at one time or another.

It's difficult to know when this place was built or abandoned. This one was probably left to waste away in the harsh desert 15 or 20 years ago, but that's just a guess. As far as when it was built, I'm no expert, but perhaps in the 1940's. It may be even older than that.

I used a Nokia Lumia 1020 to capture these images. This is a great camera for this type of photography because it's small and lightweight and (most importantly) with me. Besides, vision is far more important than what camera is used.

This is actually a double exposure. The second exposure is an extreme (and extremely fuzzy) close up of my finger that I accidentally captured immediately following the image of the porch ceiling above. I thought it might be interesting to combine the two exposures into one image. All it really did was give the above photograph its strange color tones.
