Abandonment: Collapsed House - Mojave, California

Collapsed House In The Desert - Mojave, California
In an area out in the Mojave desert near where there are a bunch of abandoned homes, I found a small collapsed house. This dilapidated home has obviously been abandoned for decades, and the harsh forces of the desert at some point brought it down.

The place was small, but it did have indoor plumbing, which is less common among these abandoned places than one might think. It also had asphalt shingles, which, while common across America, are not all that common on the forgotten homes in this area.

It is difficult to know when this house was originally built, when it was abandoned, and when it collapsed. Often these places have many more questions than answers. Most likely the reason that it was built and ultimately abandoned is closely tied to the many now-closed mines nearby.

I used a Sigma DP2 Merrill camera to capture these images. I used Alien Skin Exposure 6 to post-process them.
