Abandonment: Deserted Desert Home - Mojave, California

Deserted Desert Home - Mojave, California
There's an abandoned manufactured home in the desert between Mojave and Tehachapi in California. It sits on a small bluff with a great view of the large nearby wind farm.

While it sits close to a main road, to get to this place one must go down an almost never used and unmaintained dirt road. I think that whoever lived in this home was pretty much the only ones who used the dirt road.

As best as I can tell the last time this place was occupied was 2006. It appears as though grandparents lived in the house with their young grandson. There is a travel trailer on the property that someone else may have also lived in.

It is difficult to know why the residents abandoned this house, but they left a lot behind. Perhaps the grandparents passed away. At some point someone began clearing out the place, but gave up well before the task was complete.

The manufactured home and travel trailer sit deserted in the desert, slowly succumbing to the harsh environment. It will become more and more dilapidated with each passing season.

I captured these images using a Sigma DP2 Merrill. I post-processed them using Alien Skin Exposure 6.
