|Some Sunset - Stallion Springs, California|
There have been three really nice sunsets recently that I've been able to photograph. I captured each of these while standing in my yard. You don't always have to go far to photograph.
Two of these images were captured using a cell phone (Nokia Lumia 1020). The other was captured using a Sigma DP2 Merrill. Does it matter which image came from which camera? Can you even tell? Both cameras are perfectly capable of capturing great images just as long as the photographer is also capable.
|Summer Sunset - Stallion Springs, California|
I've heard it said that a sunrise or sunset worth photographing occurs only a few times per month. The conditions need to be right for a truly great color display in the sky. The big ingredient needed are some clouds (but not too many). The summer months in southern California seem to produce a higher than average number of great sunrises and sunsets.
If you are not out with a camera when sun is low to the horizon you have no hope of capturing any of them. Photography requires action. It takes effort to actively photograph. Don't find yourself sitting in an armchair when nature is putting on a brilliant show.
