Photoessay: Downtown Salt Lake City, Part 2: Color

Main - Salt Lake City, Utah

In the first part of this series I showed you the black-and-white images that I captured on a trip to downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Part 2 includes the color images that I captured on that trip.

I like to show color photographs and black-and-white photographs separately when I can. It's more cohesive when displayed that way. Color and monochrome are so much different from each other (more than some realize), and color can be a distraction to the black-and-white and vice versa.

Again, these photographs are a mix of architectural, "cityscape" and street photography. There's also some landscape/garden photography thrown in. It's a smorgasbord of genres, but that's what you find when you go downtown. I try not to get too caught up in staying within a genre or two, but instead capture whatever grabs my attention regardless of genre.

I captured these using my Fujifilm X-E1 with an 18-55mm lens attached. Most of these are straight-out-of-camera JPEGs (something that Fuji X-Trans cameras do quite well), and a few received a very tiny amount of post-processing.

Enjoy!
